The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission has stressed that responsibility should be ensured and justice should be given to the victims and the families of the victims who are kept in informal detention places, where their whereabouts are not disclosed, and in a situation that may lead to forced disappearance.

🔴 Mr. Manbere Chekol, a construction professional, is the father of 2 children aged 7 and 4 years, on May 9, 2016. They were taken by the security forces in a vehicle without license plate from the area known as “sefera” in Addis Ababa city. Their whereabouts and condition are unknown, and their families are exposed to great stress and psychological damage.
🔴 Mr. Zelema Gurum Flate, a member of the National Defense Force and a driver, died on November 19, 2016. Since they were taken by the security forces in a vehicle with an unknown license plate number from the area known as “Deborah School” in Addis Ababa city, Mimi Kura Sub-city, their families are in great stress and psychological damage as their whereabouts and condition are unknown.

➡ Mr. Amare Gdaf, who was engaged in the business of driving a 3-legged vehicle called “Bajaj” on March 11, 2016. Around 5:00 a.m. in Addis Ababa city, Ka Sub-city, in the area commonly known as “Border Crossing”, 6 civilian clothes and 1 Defense Army uniform were taken away by people wearing uniforms and an unmarked vehicle, and their whereabouts were unknown for the past 6 months. .m. They were released.
➡ Mr. Alemayehu Kefal Tesema, a resident of Addis Ababa, died on August 20, 2015. In Addis Ababa city, Kirkos sub-city, district 1, in the area commonly called “Flamingo”, they were taken by 6 members of the federal police wearing civilian clothes and carrying identification, in April 2016. They were released.
➡ Mr. Samgegeta Andulaem, married and father of 2 children, resident of Addis Ababa city, on August 27, 2015. Around 11:00 p.m., they were taken from their vehicle by security forces wearing civilian clothes from the area where they provide taxi services in the area called “Bsrate Gabriel”, and they were released on March 16, 2016, after spending 7 months in the residence of the Defense Forces members, commonly known as “Russia Camp”.
➡ A victim who is the head of a family and the father of children, who did not want to be named, on August 15, 2015. Around 6:00 p.m., they were arrested from their private workplaces by security personnel in civilian clothes and uniforms wearing red bonnets. Since that day, their families have searched for them in many Addis Ababa city and federal police stations in Addis Ababa city, but it is not possible to find out why they were arrested.
