Since last week, land and air transport services have been suspended for days due to clashes between government forces and Fano militants in various areas of the Amhara region.
Following the crisis in the Amhara region, where many Israelis are located, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Israeli Embassy in Ethiopia, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, the Israeli Security Council and the Jewish Institute have been involved in the process of evicting their citizens.

Following the escalation of the conflict, it is known that Ethiopian Airlines has canceled its flights to the cities of Amhara region.
On Wednesday, the state of emergency announced that federal government forces had retaken control of six towns from insurgents, and that the towns would return to normal activities and all services would resume.
According to this, it is known that Ethiopian Airlines has resumed the canceled flights for Thursday, and the Israeli government has announced the evacuation of its citizens after the start of the flight.
In order to coordinate a mission to evacuate their citizens, it is stated that the Prime Minister of Israel had a discussion with the heads of various institutions of the country a few days ago.
In this mission, before the 204 Israelis left Bahir Dar and Gondar, the Israeli embassy in Ethiopia and the country’s foreign affairs office in Jerusalem stayed in contact with most of their citizens for 24 hours.
Later on Wednesday night, the Israelis were taken to Gondar and Bahir Dar airports after they were made to meet at the designated assembly points to allow them to leave their cities.
They were taken to Addis Ababa on Thursday by means of prearranged special flights at the airports. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the citizens will stay in Addis Ababa until they decide to return to Israel.
It was revealed that this mission to evacuate the Israelis was assisted by a situation room in the Israeli Foreign Ministry, and the team included diplomats, staff of the Jewish Institute and members of the Israeli army who could speak Amharic.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked those who participated in the evacuation, saying, “Israel protects its citizens wherever they are.” In the last days, there was a conflict in the area of Ethiopia. I have ordered them to leave,” he said, adding that his country welcomes its citizens.
