Five countries announced in a joint statement that they are concerned about the recent conflicts in the Amhara and Oromia regions of Ethiopia.
In a joint statement issued by the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and New Zealand, they said that the recent conflict in the two regions has resulted in the death of civilians and instability.the countries have requested all parties involved in the conflicts in the two regions to protect civilians, respect human rights and resolve their differences peacefully.
The recent conflict between government forces and Fano militants in the Amhara region has not only caused harm to civilians, but also created instability in the region.
Months of tension in the region, linked to the disarmament of regional special forces, led to clashes last week, with ground and air transport and internet services disrupted, with some areas under the control of militants.
The conflict in the Amhara region is beyond the capacity of the region, so a state of emergency was declared. The federal government has declared that the region is returning to relative peace with the law enforcement measures taken by the federal government.
At the same time, the government operating in the Oromia region has been away from peace for several years following the movement of the Oromo Liberation Army called Shene.
They have been experiencing peace violations in the four Welega zones, North and East and West Shoa, as well as in Borena and Guji zones, where the militant group operates extensively.
Killings and abductions of civilians, lack of peace, disruption of transport and telephone connections are frequent incidents in these areas.
Anthony Blinken, the head of the Foreign Affairs Office, told Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed last week that America is particularly concerned about the situation in the Amhara and Oromia regions.
Concerned about the security situation in the region, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia are among the countries that have urged their citizens not to go to the Amhara region, those who are there to be careful, and those who want to go should ask for advice.
