Ambassador Media has confirmed that 11 innocent civilians were executed by Ethiopian government forces in a brutal reprisal attack in the town of Ketebge, Wogera Woreda, Central Gondar Zone.
The victims—most of whom were over 50 years old—were reportedly forced from their homes and killed in cold blood. Information gathered directly from hospital sources and residents of Ketebge paints a clear and horrifying picture: these were not casualties of combat, but defenseless civilians deliberately targeted by those who are supposed to protect them.
This is not the first time we report such atrocities, and sadly, it may not be the last. The killing of unarmed citizens has become a pattern under this regime—systematic, ruthless, and increasingly normalized.
As Ambassador Media, we are deeply disturbed not only by the massacre itself, but by how numb we, as a society, have become to such crimes. We are so used to death in Ethiopia that we are now witnessing massacres like this without giving them the outrage they deserve. That in itself is a tragedy.
There has been no official acknowledgment or response from the Ethiopian government regarding the killings in Ketebge. Silence and denial have become standard protocol. But we refuse to remain silent. The world must hear what happened in Ketebge—and what continues to happen across Ethiopia.
The execution of 11 elderly civilians is not an isolated event. It is yet another example of the Ethiopian government’s continued war on its own people—through extrajudicial killings, collective punishment, and a total disregard for human life.
Ambassador Media strongly condemns these killings and holds the Ethiopian government fully responsible for the ongoing violence against innocent civilians. We call on international human rights organizations, the United Nations, and all advocates of justice to investigate and take immediate action.
Justice for Ketebge is justice for all Ethiopians. Silence is complicity. The time to act is now.
